Hiatus of sorts.

I've been a bit quiet lately, as you might have noticed, and I wish I could say that is likely to change, but the way things are, it is not. There has been so much going on for me right now that I could write a great long tl;dr rant about, but it would achieve very little and that's not what folks come here for. Suffice to say I have had a lot of problems in my personal life lately and they are having quite the impact on my mental health at the moment, and I am struggling to cope with everything, everything here being uni, family, people and unfortunately a little hobby of mine called the sims.

Right now I just don't have the motivation to do very much, and when I am actually up and doing things, the time to do everything I would like to alongside everything I need to. I am alright (sort of), I have been here before and know that I am damn well going to have to fight my way out of this lovely little pit I have found myself in but that I can do it, and that I am getting help to do that, and that it is going to take more time that I would like it to. I will probably be pretty quiet here on the occasions I am online, maybe with a legacy post here and there when I get the time, but I will be back, since I do still enjoy the sims and the sims community.

Reading that back it sounds really distant and disturbingly not like me, and I am genuinely sorry for that, but I felt like I've been quiet enough lately without just disappearing and not saying anything.

[See The Sun] Retexture/Edit of Sentate's Stefani Top Outfit

So I disappeared for like, two months. Things happened, and I dropped into lurker mode because of them. Sorry about that! This is just something small to show I'm still alive and kicking.

Shot of the Back

Really something small, as it's more of a copy-paste-edit-y mashup. The texture on the jeans is swiped from some skinnies by Yuxi, which I overuse to hell and back, and the top is the original Sentate texture liberally poked and prodded until I was happy, though on reflection the difference is probably only something I'm going to notice. Most of the colours are by CuriousB except for like two. The swatch above doesn't show the difference between Milk and Oyster so well, but I promise it was enough to merit having both. In short thanks to:

Sentate for the mesh and base texture for the top.
Yuxi for the jeans
CuriousB for most of the colours

This is in Volatile, Dynamite, Pyrotechnic and Depth charge, as it was made for a request at GoS. Please feel free to finish the set!

Raon messed up a bit on the bone assignments (Numskinwgts wasn't right), and this made the mesh all lovely and crunchy, so I have fixed that as best I could. This is the first time I've touched bone assignments, mind, so it's not perfect, but it is better than the original. I've not changed what Raon assigned to where, but I have blended them a bit more smoothely than the borked comment left it. Let the mesh overwrite the original, if you have a version in your game.

[Paperthin Hymn] Aelia's Advent Dress with Sentate's Boots (+RESOURCE: Separated Boots)

I have learnt some basic meshing and am disproportionately proud of learning this late. I am a huge, huge fan of Sentate's Military Boots and want them on everything, which is how this project came to light. The first part is this absolutely adorable dress by Aelia re-textured and shoe swapped, and the second is the boots themselves, scaled to fit maxis legs and prodded a bit so that they will work easily with tights without being an absolute bugger to texture for any one else who wants them on absolutely all the things.

Project Make the Colours Less Hideous

I made these jumpers when I had no sense of colour beyond MAKE IT HURT MY EYES. As such, they hurt your damn eyes. Past year or so, I've come to appreciate not having my eyes violated by colour, and re-did the colour a few months ago, and have been umming and ahhhing about whether to upload them. Eventually decided it would bother me less to just post them, so here they are.

There are probably things I could prod, but I don't have the original .psd and this was originally for personal use. (READ: too lazy for perfectionism.)

Some of the colours are based on some of Aelia's colour actions, and when I say based on, I mean the base I managed to extract from the old set didn't work well with them, so took some prodding come to something close enough. If I remember rightly, the wool texture was from CG Textures.

More WIP Rambling

I have the issue with the Aelia mesh shoe swap MOSTLY sorted, thanks to digitaldollies, but while talking (Read: rambling about my meshing inadequacies with some answerable questions) it occured to me that the feet were really small. Like, child feet. Sim looked about to fall over. The picture below doesn't do it justice, so if you want to see just how bad, see my last post. So I scaled them up a bit so they were liable to blow over in a stron

The previews are at slightly different angles, oops. Still too thin? I scaled them a bit more originally, but they looked a bit too big. Just need to check them in game and bodyshop again, and then I'm going to do some retextures. I considered just using the originals, but don't fancy duplicates because I will still use the docs original, because it is lovely, so I am going to do something new.

UV Mapping Help

Other than the problem I am about to show, first attempt at meshing is going well. The mesh itself works well, it's just the mapping that will not behave itself.

I am new to meshing. This is the first time I have made anything that is not purely texture. The textures sat fine in Milkshape, and I am raging at how to fix it. To clarify: the black is texture, not a different problem because I have checked that. The only thing I can think of is at some point I decided to move that part (because Sentate gave the boots four separate parts) and forgot to change the UV Map, which, the more I think about it, seems increasingly likely. Will have a look to make sure.

Anyway achievements past two days: made something that is not texture, have the boots ready and widened to fit nude legs on other meshes without fiddling with them again, and when this issue is fixed, mapped so tights will go nicely underneath, a couple of ideas for retextures and textures/patterns hoarded, and more importantly, I have more than zero knowledge of what I am doing in Milkshape. Illness has been productive, at least.

Currently learning how to shoe swap... it's not as daunting as it seemed when I decided I wanted to try to learn how to do some simple meshing. I say this now, but be prepared for enraged ranting.

Edit: So far without a hitch... now to check it in game!

[The Girl I Love] Raon 80 with Nymphy's Curls

This mesh is something I always end up with in game but never use, it's always too plain for even sims I want to look that way. When Nymphy released her curly textures based off of textures by Nouk and Pooklet, I couldn't wait to have a play with them, and after a fair amount of rage at the alpha I am quite pleased with how they came out.

It comes in all of Pooklet's natural colours, I was sick of the sight of it when it came to do the neons, so no link to them as of yet. A huge thank you to KatCat for binning these for me, as my SimPE was in an obstinate frame of mind when these were made.

Lady Luck - AL Rockabilly Hair Nymphy'd

I am torn between Nymphy'd and Nymphied, so I shall use both until I know which is preferable.

This is a contribution for the GoS February Challenge: Low Poly, as this mesh is only 2476. It can be found here at GoS.

AL Rockabilly hair with Nymphy's curls in 8 Pooklet colours, because I made the mistake of doing the unnaturals first and got tired of looking at the texture ;D. Included are: Volatile, Dynamite, Explosive, Depth Charge, Pyrotechnic, Grenade, Fission and Land Mine.

As above with all of Pooklet's unnaturals. These files are considerably more bloated, even after going through the compressorisor, just to warn you.

You will need Apartment Life for these! I believe there is a stand alone mesh for this somewhere, but having the EP I don't use it or know how it is mapped, but if it is possible, feel free to put these on it.

Credit to Nymphy for her edited curly textures, and also Nouk and Pooklet for their textures that went into the making of them, and Pinketamine for the base colour.

GoS Down?

I keep getting a "System is Down" error from GoS, checked down for everyone or just me which says it is just me, but it is bothering me. Not anything sinister I hope.

Maxis induced RAGE.

Anyone over at GoS may have seen that I am poking at the Apartment Life Victory Rolls with Nymphy's beautiful textures. EAxis fuckery in the texture mapping is proving a pain in the ass. The front hangs in strips, not one piece, so I can't fill it in any more, and the middle roll and the back section are massive texture stretchers, resulting in the following compromise on curly:

I am pretty lenient with what you do with anything I have made. In posting it, I'm releasing it into a public domain, so there seems little point in trying to say what you may and may not do with it. Simply put, you will never need to ask for permission to cut, paste, edit, mash up or anything. The only thing I have an issue with is crediting. Most of my things don't require huge amounts of work, but I would like that work to be acknowledged, even if only in a small way - I'm not asking for flashing lights and links and trumpets, just a name will make my day. Not just because of what I do, but because plenty of things I have made use work of other creators, and any credit to me is in turn credit to them for anything of theirs I have used, because I try my best to remember and make note of what I use from who.

As such, if you come across anything and I have forgotten to acknowledge someone's or your own texture/mesh/colour actions, feel free to let me know and I will credit you if I did use something of yours. I do try to remember everyone but I am not so great for remembering who made what mesh and such, and I'd be a bit of a dick if I didn't bother at all after asking everyone to do the same for me.

[The Harvest] 4 Bottom Dress Dungarees

Made for the Garden of Shadows November Project. The theme immediately made me think of the dungarees I made for the July Project and so with some playing around with the alpha of a mesh by Slar and some mashing and manipulating of the maxis textures these were made:

Retextures/colours of Maxis CU Dungarees

Made for the Garden of Shadows July Project 2009. There are 45 different colours (Pooklet's originals and Aelia's original retro) for the t-shirts underneath them, and I have given the dungarees a bit more denim-y fabric in a darker colour. I wouldn't recommend using all the colours, but at the time I thought it was a good idea to put the black (dynamite) in the pooklet folder and the white in the aelia folder.
